A stylish barrel sauna made from locally
sourced lumber from the Tama region
The sauna's unique location in the forest positioned along a clear mountain stream ensures that the sound of the wind, the calling of birds and insects, the babbling of the stream, and even the steady sound of rain, all contribute to a healing environment that can be experienced through the five senses.
After an intense sauna session, guests are invited to take a refreshing dip in the clear stream flowing right below the sauna area to truly experience peak relaxation. A small waterfall with a water basin is also located nearby, so adventurous guests can swim in the waters of the rumoured kappa (a playful Japanese water spirit). Finally, completely original to Shizenjin Mura, we also offer a hydrangea tea löyly to pour over the sauna stones. Let the gentle fragrance cradle you, and leave the sauna with a rejuvenated body and soul.

- ・Swimsuits are required during use of the sauna. Entering the sauna area naked or in underwear is prohibited.
- ・Smoking of any kind, and consumption of alcohol / food is prohibited. Soft drinks are permitted.
- ・Please refrain from using the sauna if you feel unwell, or are under the influence of alcohol.
- ・When swimming in the stream, please be careful of strong currents and rocks.
- ・Mixed gender use of the sauna is permitted.
- ・Guests may enjoy "self-löyly" (pouring water or fragrance on the hot sauna rocks), however, please do not pour large amounts of liquid on the sauna stove at once, as this will break the stove.
- ・Guests who do not adhere to the above guidelines may be asked to leave. In the case a guest is asked to leave, we are unable to refund any portion of the reservation fee.
